An election was held in poor Malawi in 2019, Peter Mutharika won by the narrowest margin, the others MCP and UTM challenged the 'win' in court, the Constitutional Court agreed with the 'others' and ordered a fresh election... Peter Mutharika of DPP in cahoots with MEC [strangely] appealed the said court decision at the Supreme Court, the highest court there is in Malawi [in case you didn't catch the 'supreme' reference]. The Supreme Court has just delivered its verdict [on 8th May 2020]... it has agreed with the Constitutional Court and upheld its verdict. This means Malawi will have to hold new elections and go with the 50+1 system. It also means the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) was indeed weighed and found wanting.
