Chinese Exploiting Malawian Kids in Racist/Humiliating Videos Sold for Thousands in China

Malawian kids being exploited by Chinese
Those kids you see in the wildly popular video being made to shout ‘I am a Nigger with Low IQ!’  by some Chinese guy might be from Malawi and it is time we stopped that type of behaviour.

That video is just one you heard of, there are others of Chinese putting black boys sitting their laps and making them curse in Mandarin. There are is another of a Chinese man making fun of the lip-pulling tribal woman of Ethiopia by trying to kiss them.

An advert selling 'kids' services' on Weibo
A simple search on the Chinese copy-cat of Twitter, Weibo, gives thousands of hits of such videos, they have been in circulation in China for years. I tracked down one such page (非洲小花妞祝福视频拍摄) roughly translated as ‘African little girls singing blessings.’

Chinese looking to spice up their birthdays or looking to impress their girlfriends with black skin - a rare, feared, hated and often misunderstood thing – cough between MWK5000 and MWK50,000 for a customized one.

Deals are made on Wechat
Once the money is in, the Chinese on the ground in Africa invites a group of unsuspecting black people, usually young men, children, and mothers from rural and semi-rural areas for the shoot. They are dressed up, sometimes in Chinese attire and made to parrot some phrases in Mandarin while goofily dancing or posing.

The video is then dispatched to the happy customer who posts it on social media for friends to awe and ask how black monkeys from the Savannah got to sing happy birthday to them by name.

Remember, all these videos are being posted and transacted on WeChat, QQ and Weibo, where police come to your door if you post political opinions authorities don’t like. The fact that these videos are freely floating on there - you can draw your own conclusions.

Ad on Weibo: African bodies = Money in China
To convince the communities, these Chinese men buy snacks and ‘donate’ and pretend to be doing philanthropy.

This is happening in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. The products that were ‘donated’ there and ones that appear in their online picture catalogues are in line with the products you can find in the said countries.

According to this highlighted videographer, these kids and mothers are Malawian and the young men are Zimbabwean and you young women are from Zambia. There is even a service from Egypt and Ukraine.

In a blog post defending this Blaxploitation, the vendors claim their ventures have ‘greatly improved the conditions’ of the places they shoot from and that they donate food and money that is ‘more than what the parents earn.’ See here (link in Chinese).

The page also denies they make the kids parrot insults and rejected the video of the kids parroting self-insulting chants.

But look here, folks, just like on the tobacco estates, if the kids are earning it is child labour, if the kids are being used to make earnings for someone else, it is child exploitation. So why the fuck are these fuckers not in some jail?

Jokes: The so-called Donations
These people are being left with kids alone sometimes indoors, do we know if child porn is also being demanded by some pervs in Asia?

Does it look like a donation to you if the donor demands you wear some fake silk dress and chant like you are in a Kungfu movie before you can collect your ‘donation’?

In China there are 1.4 billion people there, these guys make thousands of videos and that translates to millions on money, no wonder they are now expanding to the Middle East and Eastern Europe to get brown and white monkeys to dance for Chinese audiences too.

Dressed like crowns and exploited- Zim Youths
This particular page, by his own admission, has produced over 100,000 videos, you can imagine the amount of money being made.

If you conclude that this is acceptable, then cool…if not then the Chinese that are filming these videos around the Njewa Area in Lilongwe and other areas in Malawi need to be warned off it or maybe brought in for ‘a talk.’

In any case, if there is going to be a donation, let it be a donation, because the videos make a lot of money and they should not be hidden behind 'charity.' In the caption accompanying the picture below, the vendor said buy his video so his mother can afford some rice.

I'm happy, informed and totally understand consent!
The opening up of the country to China should not include uncultured, racist and exploitative elements like these.

Some that feature in ads are not even 2

This guy and his click in Malawi need to get got

Just look at the video below of a Chinese boomer putting a kid on his lap and making him say the worst curse words you can find in the Chinese dictionary.

I hope the media, the Chinese and Malawian authority and anyone who can read will make sure not another video like that is made again from Malawi or Zambia or Zimbabwe. The people don't know what they are talking about and the fact that some videos are being made that are humiliating and criminal means the whole enterprise is suspect.

Fighting Movies to Watch Before you Die

It’s a long shot, it’s like when someone asks you what your favourite song is – I usually do not answer because I have so much songs that I hold dear and cannot make each unique ones compete. However if I have to name 20, I would feel safe.

So, what are the hard hitting movies from China and in the martial arts world that have a lasting effect on me? Here is my list of 20 and they are not in any but alphabetic order.

36 Chambers of Shaolin (1978)
Starring Gordon Liu. It is funny and painful to watch as Gordon tries to learn fighting; the kung fu training still rings in my head.

American Ninja 5 (1993)
Starring David Bradley and Lee Reyes, the scene where he meditates and shakes off cuffs is epic.

American Shaolin (1992)
Who doesn’t remember the song: ‘There aint No Cure for the Shaolin Temple Blues?  Which is interrupted by the jealous master! Of course the movie makes fun of the Shaolin. Starring (among others) Reese Madigan, Kim Chan and Daniel Dae Kim.

Axe Gang aka Kung fu Hustle (2004)
It was directed, co-written and co-produced by Stephen Chow, who also stars in the lead role. The land lady is the star of the movie, but Chow is simple funny and good with Kung fu. Love the scene where he tells a woman that he cannot beat her because she is a farmer and therefore to the economy.

Black Sheep Affair (1998)
Zhao Wen-Zhou is Yim Dong, a Chinese security officer who is assigned to the Chinese Embassy in the Russian republic of Lavernia after he disobeys orders on a hijacking crisis. The tense scene is in the bathroom in the prison, my brother loves this movie!
Bodyguard from Beijing (1994)
The movie sparked rumours in my country, Is Jet Li gay? He simply won’t touch the women in his movies like Van Damme…lol… but this movie is epic and the storyline unique. The baddest scene for me was when the bad guy went to get the body of his brother from the mortuary – epic!

Bullet in the Head (1990)
John Woo movie, you know him. This movie takes you from the city to the jungle, from friendship to betrayal, from war to handiwork and you cannot watch it without being haunted by that bullet in the head.

Eastern Condors (1987)
Directed by Sammo Hung, who also starred in the lead role. The film co-stars Yuen Biao, Joyce Godenzi, Yuen Wah, Lam Ching-ying, Yuen Woo-ping, Corey Yuen and Billy Chow. You get the picture; it has got war, betrayal, handiwork and some good comedy like when Biao does a coconut to take out a foe. And the soundtrack is great.

Enter the Fat Dragon (1978)
Sammo Hung. Funny and Fierce.

Fist of Legend (1994)
Jet Li. Japanese, explosive. He goes into a class full of Japanese and leaves unscathed with many broken bones!

In the Line of Duty (1985)
Michelle Yeoh, John Shum Kin-Fun, Cynthia Rothrock, Mang Hoi, Tsui Hark, Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, Richard Ng Yiu-Hon, Billy Ching Sau-Yat, Chung Faat, Kong Lung, Dick Wei, James Tin Jun, Chan Ging, Mai Kei, Ka Lee, Tai Bo, Wu Ma – cast sells itself.

Kick Boxer (1989)
Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and former world kickboxing champion Dennis Alexio – You should see the final fight – seriously, Tong Po should have won!

One Armed Boxer (1971)
Jimmy Wang Yu. With just one hand, he did the impossible even with just one finger! That inflatable Shaolin guy was also the boss.

Ong Bak (2003)
By 2003, I thought martial arts was dead, and then came Tony Jaa, his knee and elbow must be insured, they are too precious!

Only the Strong (1993)
Starring Mark Dacascos, it is considered to be the only Hollywood film that showcases Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art, from beginning to end. If you are not still haunted by the soundtrack, Paranaue, you are just a hater!

Shaolin Soccer 2001
Stephen Chow. At some point I sat and was like what if soccer could be like that? My favourite scene was when the opponents dropped spanners from their pants and lied they had been in the garage working!

Shaolin versus Lama (1983)
Alexander Lo, tall and handsome and Lama so tough and proud – he asked him ‘can a student be tougher than a master?’

Snake in Eagle’s Shadow (1978)
Starring Jackie Chan, Hwang Jang Lee and Yuen Woo-ping's real life father, Yuen Siu Tien…when the movie was beamed, the next day was disaster at my primary school as everyone wanted to play the Snake twins!

Tai Chi Master (1993)
My all time best movie from China. Jet Li takes on his brother and displays fine Tai Chi. The soundtrack is one of the best songs to rock to.
Bryan is massive in Thundering Mantis

Thundering Mantis (1980)
Starring Bryan Leung, Cheng Feng and Eddy Ko Hung. I hear Bryan has no kung fu training at all! But what he did in this movie…everyone wanted to be called Ah Chi in my hood. That young boy of his, the death of his master and that cruel pigeon mauling villain!  Did Ah Chi eat him at the end?

You Know you are in China When…

Pay 1RMB and ride the bus till you are tired
This is not an invitation to a joyride, you Tom Sawyer!

The guy on the traffic light moves when it turns green
And there is also a bike, whose wheels also spin when green

The ground floor of the building is the first floor
Here, your first floor is actually the second floor; the ground floor is first floor – Which actually makes sense.

Someone picks their phone and they say ‘Wei?!’
At first I was like, this Wei guy is making too many calls…and then it hit me, no hello out here.

The year starts one month after the year has started
People act normal on 1st January or Christmas, hell breaks loose 30 days later.

On some day you walk into the street and some people burn ‘money’
It’s some festival, the naïve data I have gathered says it’s a way of getting blessings by sending some money’s to the ancestors. So here it’s not ‘make it rain,’ like Lil Wayne, its ‘make it burn’

You can go grab dinner at 3am
In my country, even at a five star hotel (ha, am such an optimist, there is no five star hotel in my country) you cannot get a meal after nine. Out here, brothers sit on mini chairs in the alleyways and eat away at 2am without even being creepy.
I have fallen prey to the window; I go out at 3 to grab something from this 24-hour shop. I mean this shop with no security and women attendants, the robbers of Malawi and St. Louis and Birmingham must be salivating for a Chinese visa.

The night clubs are strange…
You walk into a night club, you have to pay for a seat…no dance floor… the club’s paid entertainers who entertain you while you just sit and watch and drink

At universities, it’s normal to find students pacing about memorizing and reciting schoolwork
It’s shocking. Think of a math test; now think of that test in Mandarin. Yeah, I kind of understand why students literary have to recite their work.

Cars drive on the right
Back home cars file on the left and the steering wheel in a car is on the right, here…it’s the exact opposite, imagine the idiosyncrasy.

Silent motorcycles everywhere
I read somewhere that there are 121 million electric bikes in China, that is 10 bikes for everyone in my country and that is without counting the traditional bicycles. Its strange how there are no accidents here with silent bikes whizzing on pavements.

You can walk into the supermarket and get a live and edible frog, scorpion or turtle
In West Africa you can buy a bat in the market in my country you can buy some mice for dinner, nothing to freak about,

There is a minimum fare for a taxi
8 RMB for you lazy karangas who want to get a taxi involved in all travels.

You can wear a hoodie and a mask and enter a shop at 2am and still get a smile from the attendant
Don’t try that in Florida

The sound ‘Nigga’ is not offensive
Sounds like Nigger, but it is ‘Nerge’ it’s Mandarin for ‘that’ and is also used as filler in oral speech. So you would hear someone say to you: ‘You are nigga nigga…ah, how to say…ah, you are new in Jinan?’

Your fish gets killed after you buy it
You want a fish, you point one from the tank, they kill it while you watch, smash is skull and remove scales and hand it to you, calmly.

Banks open on a Sunday and Saturday
So do some schools and many offices, Sunday and Saturday are not a Chinese thingy.

No free water in a restaurant
You want it, you buy it, but you can get free soup. You have water from taps but people don’t drink it.

You want water? Here is some hot water, its good for your stomach

I have a fetish for cold drinks, unless they are tea and coffee, everything must come in chilled. Not here, water is generally served warm, in winter or summer, some corridors actually have water heaters on standby.

When you are out of credit, your phone number cannot be used or reached
Not even SMS

Your internet speed’s up and gets cheaper
I pay 40 RMB for a month of unlimited internet, first month I couldn’t believe it and downloaded over 300 GB of stuff before slowing down.

Good luck finding a church...
It’s not the Vatican; I only know one church in my city, after all 40+ % of the Chinese are atheists.

Cornflakes? Mei you!
Well, the little things we dig in the west are hard to come by. Cornflakes, Vaseline, Afro combs, folks or even black tea.

Baby pants come split at the crotch
To make it easy for babies to poop and pee…funny how I have not seen a diaper here and I have seen many babies.

Wanna spit? Fear no one
Yes, you can’t get past a street without meeting over ten people that spit or seeing sputum on the pavement, it’s a free country.

You want some tea? Here, green and without sugar
Tea is big in China, only it’s green, herbal and comes with no sugar or milk…much to the chagrin of yours truly.

Am 30 and am still living with my parents
‘And I will move out the day I marry,’ a girl would say. Or better still; a son would live with a parent until they buy him a house, what a lucky people!

Do you know Jet Lee? ….No
Apparently the Chinese stars have to change their names when starring for the international screens so its Li Lianjie not Jet Li, Lǐ Xiǎolóng not Bruce Lee and Chéng Lóng not Jackie Chan…I mean would Lǐ Xiǎolóng have been a hit outside China if he kept his real name?

The beds are hard
Ancient China people did literally sleep on nothing but wooden beds, the rich even had jade pillows, apparently it was good luck and good for your spines. So the hard we have today is very soft.

Toilets are sunken
Last used one of those before 1997, they are still in commission here; in places I have been to…squat to poop.

You can buy beer from anywhere
In Uganda or Malawi, beer is restricted to bottle stores and yet we have almost epidemic levels of boozing, here in the middle kingdom, you can get beer off and hawker or restaurant and what more, the glass bottle is non-returnable!

*As you will notice, this is based on my country and the part of China i have seen, its not exhaustive
